Notes

  • The selected offences are homicide, attempted murder, threats to kill, assault with injury and with intent to cause serious harm, robbery, rape and sexual assault. Since April 2019 forces have flagged them through the National Data Quality Improvement Service, so earlier years are not directly comparable. Greater Manchester Police and the Metropolitan Police have each revised how they count them, as the ONS's notes explain.
  • The chart draws the latest two years; the table holds every year.
