Suffrago UK Data Hub
RankingsVerificationMethods

Independent service run by Suffrago – not an official government website. Every figure comes from an official UK publisher under its open licence and is checked against that source each time the data is refreshed.

Privacy

What the hub records when you use it. In short: no cookies, no sign-in and only counted visits.

Who is responsible

Suffrago Limited runs the hub and is the controller of any personal data it handles. Contact us at contact@suffrago.org or by post at Cubo, The Lincoln, Lincoln Square, Brazennose Street, Manchester M2 5AD.

This notice covers the hub. Suffrago's polling and its other services have their own privacy policy.

No cookies, no sign-in

The hub sets no cookies and has no accounts, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to dismiss. Its fonts, images and scripts are all served from the hub's own address: no page asks another site for anything.

Counting visits

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, so we know which pages people use and what to build next. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. For each page view it records the page, the site you came from, your country and region, and your browser, operating system and device type. It tells visitors apart by a code made from the request, which Vercel discards after 24 hours, and we see only totals. Our reason is our legitimate interest in knowing how the hub is used. Vercel explains how it works in its analytics privacy notes.

Your theme setting

The hub opens in its dark theme. If you choose Auto, Light or Dark, your browser keeps that choice in its local storage under the name suffrago-theme, so the next page opens the same way. It never leaves your device. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

Finding your areas

The search on the home page, and the search for a place in the menu at the top left of every page, look for data and places by name on the page itself, so nothing you type there is sent anywhere. When you search a postcode, your browser downloads the file for the postcode's area, such as SW, which thousands of postcodes share, and finds your postcode in it on your device. Your postcode is never sent to us or to Vercel, put in the page's address or stored. Vercel's servers see only which area's file was asked for, as they see any page. The council and ward chooser downloads the same file for everyone. This covers what the hub's own pages do: a browser extension or your device's keyboard may handle what you type under its own terms.

Members of Parliament on seat pages

Each constituency's page shows its sitting MP: their name as Parliament displays it, their official portrait, their party, the date they became an MP and their latest election's result, with each candidacy's party and votes but no other candidate's name. A member's party is political opinion, which they have made public themselves.

It all comes from UK Parliament's Members API, and is checked against it each time the hub reads it: every morning that Parliament's list of members changes, and at least once a week. Our reason is our legitimate interest, and the public's, in knowing who represents each area. We have assessed it in a data protection impact assessment and keep only what the card shows. There is no download, database or list of members: each page shows one.

A card comes off every page as soon as a check fails, and shows again once one passes. The hub keeps its copies of these details in its private repository on GitHub, which may process them outside the UK, and deletes its raw copies after 12 months. Corrections to a member's details go to Parliament, whose data the hub follows each day. To object to your card being shown, email contact@suffrago.org.

Hosting

The hub is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel's servers receive your IP address and browser details to send you each page, and keep logs to run and protect the service, which may be processed outside the UK. We do not use them to identify anyone. See Vercel's privacy policy.

If you email us

We use your name, email address and message only to reply and to put right anything you report, and keep them only for as long as that takes. The corrections list never names you.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by emailing contact@suffrago.org. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
