Notes

  • High risk is a chance of flooding greater than 3.3% each year; medium between 3.3% and 1%; low between 1% and 0.1%; very low under 0.1%. The figures are as at 31 March, but 2023–24's are as at December 2023 for rivers and the sea and January 2024 for surface water. The Environment Agency rounds them to the nearest 100, and 2021–22's to the nearest 1,000.
  • Surface water risk was reassessed in the national assessment of January 2025, so the figures from 2024–25 are not comparable with those before. The 2025–26 report gives 691,200 properties at high or medium risk from rivers and the sea, the same as 2024–25, where its own table of risk levels adds up to 655,900; the hub shows the risk levels as the report gives them.
  • From the Environment Agency's corporate report, not official statistics. Wales's properties at flood risk are Natural Resources Wales's, on their own pages.
