Notes

  • Requests for an EHC needs assessment the council received in the calendar year, from any source, and those it decided to assess or not, as local authorities report them in the SEN2 return. Requests withdrawn or not yet decided are in the total only.
  • The DfE gives these figures for England's 153 councils with education and children's services duties (its unitary, metropolitan and London councils and its 21 counties), not for districts.
  • The DfE gives Buckinghamshire, North Yorkshire and Somerset under the codes of the county councils their unitary councils replaced over the same areas (E10000002, E10000023 and E10000027), and the hub keeps them there, never moved to the councils' own (decision 47.2).
  • The DfE gives Barnsley and Sheffield under the codes they had before part of Barnsley moved into Sheffield on the 1st of April 2025 (E08000016 and E08000019), and they are shown so.
