Traffic at each count point, Great Britain
The annual average daily flow of motor vehicles past each of DfT's road traffic count points in Great Britain in the latest year, on motorways, A roads and minor roads, each marked counted or estimated and shown on its highway authority's page.
Highest: M25, Hillingdon
212,636 vehicles a day
2025 · count point 27923
Verified against source, 30 October 2026, 11:49 UTCA count point stands for a stretch of road between two junctions, not an area, so the points are not charted here. Each is on the page of the highway authority DfT gives for it, under Traffic count points: a map of the authority's points and a table of every one, with its road, junctions, road category and whether DfT counted or estimated its flow. The authorities are listed below, and the whole file is in the CSV and JSON.

Notes
- DfT's annual average daily flow: the number of motor vehicles passing the count point, both ways, on an average day of the year. A count point stands for its road between the two junctions named.
- DfT counts each major road point every year or few years, and some minor road points, for a day; in other years it estimates the flow from earlier counts and traffic trends. Each point is marked counted or estimated, as DfT marks it, and DfT says counted figures are likely to be more accurate and estimated ones should be used with caution.
- Each point is on the page of the highway authority DfT gives for it: in England's two-tier areas the county. Every year since 2000, and every type of vehicle, is in DfT's own files.
