Notes

  • Spending on fixed assets, land, buildings, vehicles and equipment, and on grants, loans and shares that count as capital, for every service, as each council returned it to MHCLG.
  • England's figure is MHCLG's 'excluding double counting', which nets off the grants, loans and other help authorities give each other, so it is less than the councils' and other authorities' figures added together. It covers police, fire, combined, national park and waste authorities and the Greater London Authority too, which the hub does not show as councils.
  • England's 296 lower-tier councils and 21 counties each return their own capital outturn; a county's figure does not include its districts'. MHCLG gives Barnsley's and Sheffield's figures under the codes they had before the 1st of April 2025, and the hub keeps them there.
