Notes

Dwellings owned by the council, at the 1st of April, as councils return them; MHCLG includes non-permanent dwellings. The hub's ‘Homes owned by the council, England’ gives each council's homes from its housing statistics return to MHCLG, and its figures differ from these for most councils, so compare councils within one of the two, not across them.
MHCLG estimates each council's dwellings at the 31st of March from the census and each year's net additional homes. Its figures are given to the dwelling but should not be taken as accurate to it, and the latest years are provisional, revised as later census counts come in.
MHCLG's table still gives Barnsley and Sheffield under the codes they had before part of Barnsley moved into Sheffield on the 1st of April 2025, and they are shown so.
