Notes

  • Fly-tipping incidents councils in England report to Defra through WasteDataFlow each financial year, all of them or by the land they were found on or the main kind of waste.
  • Most councils count every incident; some count only those the public reports, and the table says so beside their figures. Defra says counts on different bases are not comparable.
  • Where Defra gives no figure for a council it says why in its notes; England's figure includes Defra's estimate for that council, which no council's or region's figure does.
  • Barnsley's and Sheffield's figures are under the codes they had before 1 April 2025, as Defra gives them.
